Each candidate status folder in your system is classified as one of the following categories:
- Terminal negative (e.g. any reject/fail/declined/withdrawn folders)
- Terminal positive (e.g. any folders associated with a successful hire)
All other folders are considered active, i.e. candidates are expected to only move through them and not stay in them.
Terminal folders are therefore a workflow stage where a candidate ends up at the end of the process, when they are not expected to move to any other folders.
Terminal negative folders are referenced in your data retention settings (if you turn this on). This means that your data retention policy will only run on candidates who have been rejected or failed at some stage; or have withdrawn or been withdrawn from the process.
You can see the list of your terminal negative folders on your data retention settings page.
